Robert Frederick "Bob" Hale, 90, formerly of Bedford, died Monday April 23, 2012 in Concord. He was the beloved husband of 65 years of Janice Liverpool Hale.
Born in Cambridge on August 4, 1921 he was the son of the late Frederick Wilson Hale and Leona Maude (Trefery) Hale. He attended West Somerville schools and was a
graduate of Somerville High School.
In 1947 Mr. Hale graduated from Northeastern University in Boston where he received his professional engineering certification, which he maintained until the present day.
During World War II, he served in the United States Army Air Corps in Europe and later for several years in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, attaining the rank of Major.
Mr. Hale retired in 1986 as Loss Prevention Manager at Liberty Mutual in Boston.
He was a resident of West Somerville, Albany, New York and Buffalo, New York prior to moving to Bedford in 1967.
A builder of scale model airplanes and automobiles, he was a member of the Minuteman Chapter of the International Plastic Model Society.
He has resided in Concord since 2007.
In addition to his wife Janice, he is survived by two sons, Coval Frederick Hale and his wife Julie A. Hale of Granbury, Texas and Anthony Norman Hale of East Boston, a brother Norman Bradford Hale and his wife Audrey of Peabody, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Rivercrest at Newbury Court (Deaconess Abundant Life Communities), 80 Deaconess Road, Concord, MA 01742.
Arrangements are under the care of Charles W. Dee and Susan M. Dee, Dee Funeral Home of Concord.
