Concord Carlisle High School (CCHS) Speech and Debate team continues its winning streak in high school Lincoln Douglas debate at MA State Final hosted in Chelmsford High March 31, 2012.

Concord Resident Freshmen Kevin Fan took the 2012 Novice Lincoln Douglas (NLD) Debate State Champion and the 1^st Speaker Award for the most polished speech. Kevin was ranked top performer in the category of Novice Lincoln Douglas debate, a rigorous 1-on-1 verbal challenge that he has mastered by competing against other Debate students throughout the school year at state and national levels. Congratulations to Kevin!

Early this year, at Harvard National Invitational Speech and Debate Tournament, Kevin braved the Junior Varsity Lincoln Douglas debate field, ranked 33 (Triple Octo Finalist) out of 238 accomplished debaters (against sophomores and juniors) from all over the United States.

Kevin is under the coaching of Richard Zhou, Carlisle resident Junior. Richard took the 2010 Novice Lincoln Douglas (NLD) Debate State Champion, 2011 Varsity Lincoln Douglas (VLD) State Final 3^rd place, and 2011 Group Discussion (GD) Champion. For 2012 State Final, Richard had another success on the Student Congress (SC) at the State Final. Richard tied at 3^rd place out of 29 outstanding student senators with his second attendance in Student Congress. Congratulations to Richard!

For this year CCHS debate team, Richard Zhou also took the Champion and 1^st Speaker in VLD on Nov 19, 2011 at Lexington High School Tournament and Kevin Fan won several top awards in GD against mostly juniors and seniors. Concord Residents Junior Anagha Chandra and Freshmen Sung Kang also performed well in GD at local tournaments.
