Brenton: Martinez Best Candidate to Improve Economic Outlook

Chelmsford, MA – Today Sandi Martinez, Republican candidate for State Senate in the Third Middlesex district, announced that former State Representative Marianne Brenton has endorsed her candidacy.

“Having served on Beacon Hill, I know what it takes to fight for reform and change.  Sandi Martinez will be the independent voice for the district.  She will use her business experience to help improve our economic climate,” said Benton.  “I am proud to endorse Sandi for State Senate.  We need her determination and leadership in the Senate.”

“Marianne is well respected.  Her endorsement is a huge boost to the campaign.  It shows voters that we have both the momentum and the message to win,” said Martinez.

Rep. Brenton served the towns of Bedford, Burlington and part of Wilmington.  She held office six years until she retired in 1997.  During her tenure in office Brenton earned a reputation as a fiscal watchdog and fighter for her district.  Martinez hopes to follow in her footsteps.

“Sandi is also a woman of great integrity which is so desperately needed in the Senate.  She will work to create more transparency in the process,” added Brenton.

Like Brenton, Martinez is a proud signer of the No New Taxes pledge.

Sandi Martinez is an elected member of the Republican State Committee for Massachusetts Third Middlesex Senatorial District.  She has also served on many boards and committees, including seven years as a Chelmsford Town Meeting Member, eleven years on Chelmsford Youth Soccer Board, and is a Blue Star Mother (BSM), as well as the BSM Representative to the Bedford VA Hospital.

Martinez founded her own IT Consulting Company, providing consulting and contract services for IBM Mainframe customers, installing, tuning and troubleshooting operating systems and program products.  She lives in Chelmsford with Lou, her husband of 30 years, and they have four grown children, three of whom are serving or have served in the military – 2 active duty Marine sons, and a daughter who spent eight years in the Air Force.  Their youngest daughter is currently working as a researcher at the Joslin Diabetes Center, in Boston.
