3. Messy Masterpiece: Paint Like Van Gogh
When/Where: Saturday, Jan. 21, Discovery Museum in Acton, 10 a.m.
Why Go: Bring the kids to learn about the eccentric painter, and try their own hand at creating a messy masterpiece.

4. Honk! Jr.

Why Go: Theatre With a Twist presents "Honk! Jr.," based on Hans Christian Andersen's "The Ugly Duckling."

5. Collecting Transcendentalism: A Curator's Perspective

Why Go: Curator of Modern Books & Manuscripts at Houghton Library, Harvard University, Leslie Morris will speak on "Collecting Transcendentalism," an exhibit on display at the library.
