Best of Patch Readers' Choice: Looking for Staycation Destinations

This week's Best of Patch Readers' Choice poll is looking for the best place to staycation around Concord.

Hmmm. That’s a word we haven’t heard in a little while, but we’re bringing it back for this week’s Best of Patch Readers’ Choice poll.

Here are a few favorite places, in no particular order, but if we're leaving anyone off of the list, please let us know in the comments and we'll be sure to add it to the list and poll below:

Voting's open until 9 a.m. Friday. Ties will be broken by whichever business has the most positive comments posted below. We will announce the winner at noon Friday.

Because this poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor, based on poll results and reviews on our directory. Please vote only once per survey, per Patch. Voting results posted in real time shall not be deemed official until Patch has reviewed and confirmed all of the votes

How is this list generated? There are so many places within an hour of Concord that are wonderful rejuvenating destinations - for kids and adults. Mt. Auburn Cemetary and Acton Arboretum, The Chelmsford leg of the Bruce Freeman Bike Trail (Park at Baptist Pond and take a picnic) An hour away if Oquinquit, the Marginal Way with benches and the ocean and the salt area. There should be a way to add a favorite place and not be limited to the Patch list.

While those are all very worthwhile destinations, I might also choose something a little more indulgent - like a trip to a day spa. I was amazed to tour the 1 on 1 Self Indulgence Spa in West Concord, which has the facilities of a fine resort, tucked away in a non-descript building on Beharrel Street. I'd like to know what other "hidden" gems are out there!

Peggy, yes that is a gem, and so hidden and quiet.

Janet and Bernie - add them to comments - we look at everything when we decide. Poll votes, comments, directory reviews.

Pretty happy to stay here at the Rectory reading Scriptures and contemplating.

OK, LIz, here's a try (requiring a little drive) The Hampton Beach State Park, great long beach, parking, nice surf. Bristol, Rhode Island. Just over an hour away. Lovely little town surrounded by water, nice restaurants and shops, prides itself in its patriotism and as proof the center line down its main street is painted red, white and blue. The southern end of the East Bay Bike path is located in a park with carousel, popcorn, water view. Biking and walking trails. Lovely little town with history.

Ok I missed the word Business and Near Concord, but I stand with my choices and will think of others. But might not include businesses just get-away spots.
