UPDATE: CPW Has Repaired Emergency Water Main Break On Monument Street
If you had low pressure, no water or discolored water today, it likely was due to the emergency water main break on Monument Street, which was repaired around 5 p.m.
UPDATED At 5:52 p.m.
Water service has been restored to the area affected earlier today by an emergency water main break on Monument Street, near the intersection with Carr Road.
Early this afternoon, Concord Public Works responded to the break, and crews were able to repair the main and restore service around 5 p.m. this evening, according to a town notice.
However, some customers may continue to experience the temporary water disturbances, which should lessen within a few hours, the notice said.
Potential lingering problems include:
- Discolored – if you are seeing discolored water, we recommend running the cold water for 5 minutes to clear the line into your home. If the water doesn’t become clear after 5 minutes, shut it off and wait one hour for the disturbance to settle or pass, and then try again.
- White Water – White water is caused by excess air in the water, you will notice if you fill up a glass of water, bubbles will dissipate as the water warms up to room temperature. This is normal when filling a water main and should clear up within a few days.
- Air flowing/pressure surges at tap – If you are a resident that lives at a higher elevation, when you open your cold water tap you may experience air flowing through your service. If you experience this, leave one cold water tap slightly open until water flows uniformly from that tap. Once there is water flowing, check for discolored water and if present follow the directions above.
If any of these problems persist into tomorrow, please call 978-318-3250. The Water & Sewer Division’s normal operating hours are Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
