The pizza shop and nail salon that burned to the ground a couple of years ago is being rebuilt on the same spot at Main and Cottage streets, although in a different configuration.
A chain-link fence blocks people from the corner site, and inside, a shovel is scooping out dirt around the rectangular cement foundation. The original L-shaped structure will be rebuilt as a rectangle along the former Dino's side. It will have the pizza shop and nail salon on the ground floor and an upstairs floor for office lease, according to building department documents.
The parcel's owner, George Dee of the bus company, applied for and got a special permit to expand the buildable area into the Residence C zone directly behind the retail, commercial area. Another corner of the lot borders the Assabet River.
There will be parking for approximately 27 cars. The restaurant is slated to have 39 seats.
