Five Thing: African Drumming, Jazz and Concord Youth Theatre

A quick look at what you need to see, do and know on Jan. 18 in Concord.

 

1. African Drumming with RhythmKids at Barefoot Books: At 4 p.m. this afternoon at Barefoot Books, Tom Foote of RhythmKids will lead a "wild drumming adventure."

2. Today in Public Meetings: According to the town website, public meetings posted for today include the Local Option Local Income Tax Committee at 8 a.m. and a Board of Selectmen's executive session to discuss land acquisition at 5:30 p.m

3. Once on This Island: At  7:30 p.m. tonight at the Concord Museum, Concord Youth Theatre presents Once on This Island. Tickets are $13, but seating is limited, so purchase your tickets in advance by going to concordyouththeatre.org.

4. Harvey Diamond Group: Jazz pianist Harvey Diamond, a teacher and mentor to generations of Boston-area musicians, will perform at 8 p.m. tonight at the Colonial Inn.

5. Sunny and Cold: Should be mostly sunny today, but highs climb to just 24, according to the National Weather Service, which predicts increasing clouds overnight and a low of 17.
