Five Things: Winter Solstice, Holiday Handbells and More
A quick look at what you need to see, do and know on Dec. 21 in Concord.
1. Musketaquid 2012 Winter Solstice: At 6 p.m. this evening at the Old Cow Pasture on Lowell Road, gather around the blazing riverside Solstice fire with warm song and good friendship to celebrate light on this darkest night. Featuring Keepers of the Solstice Fire, Earth Drum Council, Voices for the Earth Chorus, and Snow Crow. Follow luminaria from the Lowell Road Boat Launch to the Fire.
2. Today in Public Meetings: According to the town website, the only public meeting posted for today is the Concord Retirement Board at 8:30 a.m.
3. Holiday Handbell Concert at Barefoot Books: The handbell choirs from Holy Family Parish and West Concord Union Church will be a Barefoot Books at 2 p.m. tomorrow, Dec. 22, for a 40-minute concert. It's free with the donation of a new children's book, and the concert is followed by holiday crafts, tasty nibbles and mulled beverages.

5. Rainy Day, Maybe a Snowy Night: Should be mostly cloudy, with patchy fog and showers possible, and highs in the upper-40s, according to the National Weather Service, which predicts more showers and maybe snow overnight as lows drop down to 32.
