Five Things You Need to Know: June 11

A special yoga/art event at Barefoot Books, another Emerson Hospital children's seminar, a weekly dance and an Al-Anon/Alateen meeting.

 

 

Today's Weather: Monday should be another sunny days with highs of 77 dropping to 53 at night according to the National Weather Service.

1. Barefoot Books will be having a special Yoga/Art Workshop today at 4:30 p.m. focusing on the ancient eastern exercise and an art form known as Zendala, the use of repeated patterns to form a beautiful tapestry.

2. Emerson Hospital will again be offering its children's seminar course this Monday at 7 p.m. Raising Children Ages 3 thru 5 focuses on common problems with kids who act out at this age, their roots and possible remedies.

3. Monday also means dancing. The Scout House over on 74 Walden St. will be hosting it's weekly contras tonight at 7:30 p.m. No partner needed.

4. There will be also be the weekly Al-Anon/Alateen Meetings for those with alcholism in the family today at 1 p.m. at the West Concord Union Church on 1317 Main St.

5. Today in History: It was today in 1963 that a major action was taken towards equal civil liberties in America. Two African-American students, Vivian Malone and James Hood, successfully enrolled at the University of Alabama following Govenor George Wallace’s famous "stand in the schoolhouse door."
