Five Things You Need to Know: June 21

Hot today with a young professional's get-together, a children's author at Barefoot Books, a River Solstice celebration and Thursday is Ladies Night in Maynard.

 

 

Today's Weather: Hot. Highs of 99 with a slight chance of thunderstorms later at night as things cool off to 70 according to the National Weather Service.

1. Attention young professionals. There is having a Young Professionals Before Hours Meeting at 8 a.m. at Bagels Plus on 97 Great Road, Acton. Come and meet others seeking employment. A great place to network.

2. Author event. Meet Laurie Krebs, author of the children's book The Beeman and other Round-the-World Tales today at Barefoot Books at 3:30 p.m.

3. There will also be a River Solstice Welcoming sponsored by the Musketaquid Arts and Environment Initiative through the Emerson Umbrella Center for the Arts today at 6:30 p.m. at The Old Manse on 269 Monument St. A picnic and more to welcome the summer season.

4. Live Music at Peyton's in Maynard on 86 Powdermill Road continues tonight at 7 p.m. As always, Thursday is Ladies Night.

5. Today in History: Back in 1982, John Hinckley was found not guilt by reason of insanity for the attempted assassination of former President Ronald Reagan.
