Five Things You Need to Know Today: Aug. 16

The Citizens Committee to Study School Transportation is scheduled to hold a public forum tonight at the Town House.

 

1. Citizens Committee to Study School Transportation: Is scheduled to hold a public forum from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Town House. It's agenda includes a public hearing presentation, citizen comments and a review and approval of a letter to the superintendent, as an MSBA eligible applicant, requesting high school building project team consideration of keeping transportation on the high school property.

2. Other Pubic Meetings: According to the town website, other public meetings posted for today include the Historic Districts Commission at 7 p.m. and the Historical Commission at 7:30 p.m.

3. Aly Raisman's In Town! Friends and fans of US gold-medalling gymnast Aly Raisman may want to show up in Burlington this morning. There is a welcome home rally for the Needham resident at  Brestyan’s American Gymnastics Club, 13 Ray Avenue. 4. Get Registered: Next Friday, Aug. 17, is the deadline to register to vote in the Sept. 6 state primary. For more information, the Town Clerk's Office has posted voter registration and absentee ballot information to its website.

5. Warm and Storms? Patchy fog early clears to a mostly sunny day with a high of 85 and a chance of showers and thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service, which predicts a mostly clear evening with a low of 63.
