Five Things You Need to Know Today: Aug. 27

Cultural districts, community contras and more today in Concord.

1. Formalizing What Locals Knew to be True: The Massachusetts Cultural Council last week added the Concord Center Cultural District to the list of sites designated as Cultural Districts following approval of the designation at a board meeting last week. In addition to Concord, districts in Lowell, Natick, and Shelburne Falls also received the designation, the MCC said.

2. Community Contra: There's a weely Monday community contra dance at 7:30 p.m. at the Concord Scout House, located on Walden Street. Cost is $8.

3. Today in Public Meetings: According to the town website, there are no public meetings posted for today.

4. Businesses, Claim Your Listings: Natick Patch editor Justin Saglio created this terrific video to walk local business owners through the five simple steps of claiming a business listing on Patch. Among the extra benefits available to those with claimed listings are checking stats on ratings and reviews, editing and adding info and managing their photos and other media.

5. Sunny Day, Cloudy Night: Patchy fog early should clear into a mostly sunny day with a high of 83, according to the National Weather Service, which predicts a partly cloudy evening with a low around 65.
