LETTER: LWV Reflects on Concord House Tour

Co-presidents of the League of Women Voters of Concord and Carlisle says thanks to the homeowners and sponsors who helped make it possible.

To the Editor,

The sun shone on housetop solar cells and balloons waved in the breeze as visitor after visitor joined the April 6 League of Women Voters Concord-Carlisle 2013 house tour, “What’s New! Highlighting New Concepts in Energy Efficiency, Accessibility and Design.”

The seven Concord houses on the tour, plus a bonus house, attracted people armed with LWVCC green programs eager to see the house designs, hear about their efficiencies and special features, and learn from the displays of valuable information featuring businesses that helped to create these 21st Century homes. The houses included geo-thermal energy systems, elevators, solar installations, accessible features throughout, extra insulation, master computer controls, water conservation, and other smart home technologies, all encompassed in attractive, easy to care for home designs.

Thanks to the generous and gracious homeowners, all who helped with the tour and its organization, and to the sponsors including Barrett & Company, Budget Printing, Basnett Plumbing, Heating and AC, CMC Elevator, Concord Lamp and Shade, Concord Solar Challenge, Elm Bank Studio, JW Adams Construction, Nashawtuc Architects, Next Step Living, RES Solar, and Woodmeister Master Builders. Your participation made this 2013 house tour an enthusiastic and educational success.

We are most grateful for the financial support of all who participated in this fundraising event, which enables the League of Women Voters of Concord-Carlisle to carry on its non-partisan work of informing citizens on current issues and encouraging active citizen participation in government.
