To the Editor,
I am writing in support of nominee Cynthia Rainey for the Concord School Committee.
Cynthia graduated from Skidmore College in 1980 with a BA in History and Government. After graduating, Cynthia began her career in publishing. She quickly moved into high technology working primarily for Lotus and IBM.
Cynthia and her husband, Chris Kacher, moved to Concord in 1999. They have two sons, Ben, who is in the seventh grade at Peabody, and John, who is a freshman at CCHS. Both children attended Concord Children’s Center and Willard.
Cynthia has always been involved in her children’s school lives and thus has first hand knowledge of how our schools are meeting the needs of their students. Over the years she has engaged in their education in a variety of ways, including volunteering in the classroom and the school library. Cynthia has actively participated in Ben and John’s extra curricular activities as well, including managing sports teams, Cub Scouts, and Pinewood derby.
Cynthia is committed to staying well informed about the issues facing our entire community. Over the past year, she has made it her responsibility to regularly attend CTC, TAC, School Committee, Building Committee, Finance Committee and Board of Selectmen meetings.
Cynthia recognizes and espouses the emphasis that our community places on being socially and fiscally responsible. She is dedicated to preserving Concord’s strong commitment to educational excellence without placing an undo financial burden on townspeople. Cynthia respects and embraces the long and proud history of active citizen involvement in Concord.
As a school committee member, Cynthia will use her professional skills and her commitment to social and fiscal responsibility to work on the complex issues facing the committee. Cynthia will be a voice for all of the citizens of Concord.
