Police Log: Complaints About Bicyclists and Youths on Roofs

The following information was provided by the Concord Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

 

Thursday, Aug. 2

3:27 a.m. – An officer on patrol called in a report of a suspicious motor vehicle on Baker Avenue Ext. Turns out, the vehicle belonged to workers installing carpets.

7:25 a.m. – An Acton resident walked into the station to report a group of about 30 bicyclists traveling on Main Street from Acton, riding 2- to 3-riders wide, not allowing motorists to pass and even using obscene gestures toward and spitting on vehicles passing by.

9:22 a.m. – A cellular caller reported a pedestrian sign fell in the area of Rte. 126 and Walden Pond and was lying across the roadway. The responding officers said the area checked OK and there were no signs down all the way from Rte. 2 to the Lincoln line.

9:45 a.m. – An aggressive dog was reported in the area of Bradford Street.

1:58 p.m. – A Lynnfield Road resident reported his vehicle was struck in the Rte. 2 Mobil parking lot by a vehicle that then left the scene. The caller was unable to provide a description of the alleged offending vehicle.

3:03 p.m. – Officers responded to a reported motor vehicle accident in the area of the Route 2 Rotary.

4:13 p.m. – A 911 call came in from Barrett and Company reporting a cyclist struck by a motor vehicle on Walden Street. The caller said the cyclist was uninjured and did not need medical attention.

4:29 p.m. – A Shore Drive resident called to complain about a motor vehicle parked in front of his home without a residents’ parking pass.

10:05 p.m. – An officer on patrol reported stopping a vehicle in the area of Route 2 and Old Road at Nine Acre Corner for revoked insurance. The operator, a Fitchburg man, was summonsed for multiple motor vehicle infractions.

10:59 p.m. – A Concord resident reported observing two youths on the roof of New London Style Pizza while driving on Thoreau Street. The responding officers reported the youths were gone on arrival.
