Police Log: Scams, Strangers Smoking Cigarettes in Someone Else's Car
The following information was provided by the Concord Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Monday, Feb. 25
10:37 a.m. – A 911 hang-up came in from Newbury Court. The responding officer confirmed there were no issues.
11:16 a.m. – As a result of a motor vehicle stop in the area of Sudbury Road and Whittemore Street, a Maynard man was summonsed for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
1:31 p.m. – A 911 misdial came in from the Beede Center on Walden Street. It was accidental from a child in an elevator.
1:41 p.m. – Police responded to a reported disabled motor vehicle on Walden Street, just before Route 2.
2:41 p.m. – The school transportation department reported vehicles parked on both sides of the road at Pine and Central streets, making it difficult for buses to pass. The responding officer reported there were no violations and the road was passable.
4 p.m. – A Belknap Street resident reported vehicles parked on both sides of his street around the curve section between Main and Thoreau streets. The responding officer placed “No Parking” signs there.
4:19 p.m. – Police responded to a reported disturbance in the main lobby at Emerson Hospital. The man was picked up prior to the officers’ arrival at the scene.
4:31 p.m. – A Hubbard Street resident called in to report a possible scam in which she received a call from a restricted number claiming a family member had been in an accident and she needed to send money immediately.
8:27 p.m. – A Bedford man reported a lost dog, which was last seen near the Concord line.
Tuesday, Feb. 26
8:54 a.m. – An Acton woman reported that someone entered her car and smoked a cigarette inside of it while her vehicle was parked on the second floor of Emerson Hospital’s parking garage on Old Road to Nine Acre Corner the previous day. The woman said there was no known damage or items taken from the vehicle.
9:42 a.m. – Police responded to a report of a loose Golden Retriever in the area of Williams Road and ORNAC.
12:49 p.m. – Police responded to a reported motor vehicle accident in the area of Main and Walden streets.
1:16 p.m. – Police responded to an alarm activation on Monument Street, which was accidentally set off by the homeowner there.
4:51 p.m. – A Weston woman reported the driver of a red Toyota SUV cut her off, ran the Stop sign at Walden and Everett streets and then made an obscene hand gesture.
6:12 p.m. – Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Elm Street, near the Best Western hotel. AAA responded to the scene for a tow.
9:42 p.m. – Police responded to an alarm activation at Dunkin Donuts on Sudbury Road. The building checked secure.
