Police Log: Traffic Trouble and Late-Arriving LL Bean
The following information was provided by the Concord Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.
Monday, Dec. 10
7:26 a.m. – A Concord woman reported her car had become disabled at Walden Street and Route 2, and was causing a traffic issue. The vehicle was moved off to the side of the road, and police contacted AAA.
9:53 a.m. – A Bedford Street resident reported his babysitter said two men claiming to be from “Booth Electric” came to the door to do electric work, but they had not been requested. Police responded to the area and caught up with a Booth Electric van; the workers had inadvertently gone to the wrong home.
9:58 a.m. – A Ministerial Drive resident reported receiving a fraudulent check after posting some furniture for sale online. The man had not cashed the check, nor compromised his personal/financial information.
10:25 a.m. – A Main Street resident reported a phony bank check from overseas after posting a canoe for sale on Craig’s List. According to the police narrative, the return address on the check was to a law firm in Georgia. An attorney there said his office had been flooded over the last several months with calls and returned mail from similar incidents, and that he had traced the source of the scam to an Internet café in Nigeria.
2:54 p.m. – Police responded to a report of a car crossing a double-yellow line to pass another vehicle on Sudbury Road, near Crosby’s Market, before continuing down the road and turning on to Route 2 west. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.
7:32 p.m. – Police responded to a report of the possible larceny of a UPS package containing about $300 in LL Bean merch from a Main Street residence after being delivered at 2:20 p.m. that day. The resident called back the following day to report the UPS driver had brought her the missing package, which had been delivered to the wrong address the previous day.
