POLL: What's Driving Your Interest in the Third Middlesex Race?
One seat, two Republicans, five Democrats, retiring incumbent. With three weeks remaining before the Sept. 6 primary, that's an equation for a lot of interest in the race for the Third Middlesex state senate seat.
State politics swarmed West Concord last night for a League of Women Voters-hosted candidates forum featuring all seven state senate hopefuls Third Middlesex District that drew a crowd so large that organizers and public safety officials had to turn attendees away from the Harvey Wheeler Community Center.
The Third Middlesex District, currently represented by retiring state Sen. Susan Fargo, D-Lincoln, includes Bedford, Carlisle Chelmsford, Concord, Lincoln, Waltham and Weston, along with parts of Lexington (precincts 3, 8 and 9) and Sudbury.
Of the seven candidates, there are two Republicans, including Concord's Greg Howes, and five are Democrats, including Concord residents Mara Dolan and Joe Kearns Goodwin.
