POLL: Where Do Drivers Speed in Concord?

We asked, you answered. Now vote for your pick for the speediest drag around town.

The most common answers have made their way into the poll below. So cast a vote for the roadway with the most frequent offenders and we'll see if there's a consensus.

I would add Main St. at Walden Street. Expecially when you are in a cross walk. Why they don't even wave - just not aware of you at all. Bill Montague

I would add Farirhaven Road from Rt 2 and the WONDERFUL new Concord Academy sports complex and Sudbury Road. Adding to the negligent and often ornery speeders (everyone is eager to get home from work, I get it but manners people!) are the Yankee Bus and other tour bus companies and semi truck / delivery operations (all disinclined to wait at the Sudbury light to go int town and more inclined to speed off the highway onto Fairhaven Road- a thin neighborhood road with no lines or traffic signs of caution- ABSOLUTELY not built for big rigs with big chassis). Our neighborhood has urged the town to do a traffic study and one (in the public record) was promised but so far there has been no analysis to inform recommendations on how we can keep this end of town safe. Safety is critical especially as we all prepare to welcome the eager and excited spectators (not form the area nor familiar with the traffic hazards) and bright young CA students meandering to the fields. It's a disaster waiting to happen. A disaster no one wants to see or experience!

I second the Fairhaven Road from Route 2 passing by the Concord Academy fields and up to Sudbury Road. Cars drive as if they are fleeing Route 2. Fairhaven Road is a narrow residential road with many homes and children. We will indeed be welcoming students from Concord Academy and their parents for sporting events. It is it a matter of if an accident occurs, but when.

It's time! Time for the Town of Concord to do the traffic study as planned and then for them to urge the State to make Fairhaven Road a one-way street with access onto Rte. 2 only, heading west. The neighborhood was very patient a few years back when the apts. on Fairhaven Road were constructed and has continued to be through this hot summer with all the Concord Academy construction. At this point I think we are all feeling that the Town owes us a favor. Demi Ayres -Fairhaven resident for 35 yrs!!

Old Marlboro Road at ORNAC on down past the middle school gets a lot commuter, fast paced traffic.

Agreed on all accounts on Fairhaven. Even worse is that people flying off of Rte 2 to avoid the light and traffic fly down Potter Street (an even smaller street than Fairhaven) thinking they can re-access Rte 2. The fact that most bushes and trees at the end of the street expose the Rte 2 light, so it only encourages the notion of a possible cut-through. The sign indicating that Potter has "No Outlet" does not deter people from doing this.

As another fellow Fairhaven road neighborhood member (Adin Dr), I support others' comments in recommending Fairhaven for a traffic study. The road is far too narrow for the speed and volume of traffic it receives as a major gateway to Concord. This needs to be examined before children (or adults) get hurt.
