Ten Things to Do This Spring in Concord

Since Spring has sprung, Patch thought it would be a good idea to make a list of some of the biggest events in town this April and May.

 

Patch took the time to search local events and came up with the 10 things to do in the upcoming months. Here are 10 things to look forward to in April and May around Concord.

  1. Take advantage of all Concord has to offer with its rich history. Whether its a visit to Walden Pond, the Concord Museum, Emerson House, Minute Man National Historic Park, the Old Hill Burying Ground, Orchard House or Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.

  2. Sustainable Concord Coffee – Tuesday, April 19 from 7:30-9 a.m. – Another early treat. Stop by Trinitarian Congregational Church, 54 Walden St., to learn about this local food revolution from those that are taking part in Concord.

  3. Diabetes Health Fair – Wednesday, April 20 from noon to 2 p.m. – The week keeps rolling along with free clinics, this one concerning diabetes and general health. Pop by for a free dietary check-up and consultation with professionals. At the Harvey Wheeler Community Center, 1276 Main St.

  4. Musketaquid Earth Month Art Exhibit – Friday, April 22 from 5-8 p.m. – Come on down to Emerson Umbrella Center for the Arts, 40 Stow St., for the opening reception of this annual Earth Month art showcase. For more information, visit the official website by clicking here.

  5. Grand Easter Buffet – Sunday, April 24 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. – This all day, monster buffet is the biggest in town! $49.99 per adult and $19.99 for the kids. At the Concord's Colonial Inn, 48 Monument Square. Happy Easter!

  6. Concord Museum Cannon Ball Gala- Friday, April 29, 6:30 a.m. to noon – Taking place at the Nashawtuc Country Club, 1861 Sudbury Road., join the Concord Museum in celebration of the special exhibition - When Duty Whispers: Concord & the Civil War.   7. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Play – Sunday, May 1 at 2 p.m. – The hilarious 80's comedy takes to the stage, presented by the Concord Players. It's over on 51 Walden St. Learn more by checking out the website http://www.concordplayers.org. Tickets run for $24. (PS – It's also runs in late April and throughout May!)

  8. Concord's Womens Chorus Spring Concert-Saturday, May 7 from 2-4pm – Spend the afternoon listening to some “Songs of Spirit” over on 81 Elm Street. Tickets are $25. Visit the website, for more info.

  9. Young and Gifted Ensemble Concert – Saturday, May 7 from 8-9:30 p.m. – At the Trinity Episcopal Church, 81 Elm St., stop by for a look at Concord and the surrounding areas best young musical talent. Check out http://www.concertoensemble.com for more info.

  10. Concord Orchestral Pops – Friday, May 20 at 8 p.m. - The Concord Orchestra, Richard Pittman, conductor, presents its annual pops concert, “Shall We Dance?” Jazz singer Marlene VerPlanck will be the soloist in a world premiere of Bernard Hoffer’s Oooh, Brazil! a medley of bossa nova songs.
