The Concord Flower Shop announced that Mariellen Perugini of Carlisle is the grand prize winner of its “Flowers for a Year” contest. This contest included weekly bouquet giveaways and culminated in the grand prize drawing: a free 12-month membership in its Flower of the Month Club which, including free delivery, is a $600 value. Since the contest began, more than 300 entries have been submitted, and 25 Weekly Web Specials have been awarded as weekly prizes.

In a commendable act of generosity, Perugini decided to split her 12-month Flower of the Month Club prize into two six-month subscriptions and donate them to local charities: The Gleason Public Library in Carlisle will display their flowers in the library while The Minuteman Career & Technical High School in Lexington will auction theirs as a fundraiser. This selflessness so impressed Concord Flower Shop owner Helen Halloran that she increased the prize 50 percent (to a $900 value) so that Perugini will still be able to receive six months of flowers herself.

“Receiving fresh, long lasting flowers all year long is such natural, desirable gift,” said Halloran, “so we were very impressed with Ms. Perugini’s generosity in donating them to two local charities. As a reward, we increased the prize so that she could still enjoy flowers herself.”
