Vandals hit knoll at cemetery

Scorch marks on doorway lead to investigation.

Sometime over the weekend, vandals damaged a door to a maintenance building at the knoll at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.

Sgt. John Kennedy at the Concord Police Department said it was done "sometime since Friday."

The knoll is a newer section of Sleepy Hollow on Bedford Road. It is the town's largest cemetery just east of Monuent Square. It has approximately 10,000 graves, while the adjacent knoll has under 100.

Kennedy surmised that "someone held a lighter up to both sides of the door," but he cannot divulge more details because the incident is under investigation.
