Barefoot Books Goes Digital with iPad Based 'The Barefoot World Atlas' App

App is based on “Barefoot Books World Atlas,” written by Nick Crane and illustrated by David Dean.

It seemed the perfect time to make its first foray into digital technology when Barefoot Books began working on a world atlas for young learners. The 20-year-old children’s publishing company, with studios in Concord, MA, and Oxford, England, was founded by two mothers who wanted their children to have books that would feed the imagination while inspiring a respect for diversity and a love of the planet. So Nancy Traversy, Barefoot Books’ co-founder and CEO, was thrilled when she crossed paths with Concord resident Stephen Wolfram, CEO and Founder of Wolfram Research and Director of Touch Press – a company dedicated to using emerging technology to redefine books, reinvent publishing, and transform the act of reading.
