You can use this gas price widget to always find the lowest price of the moment. Pro tip: Gas up early this week to save money.

Nationwide, gas prices were predicted to be lower this summer compared to the last three years, but that won't translate into savings at the pump this Memorial Day weekend, according to experts. "Motorists this year are facing rising gas prices heading into the Memorial Day holiday," said Michael Green, a AAA spokesman, adding that Memorial Day 2013 would probably be the most expensive since 2011.  In past years, prices have declined heading into early summer as oil refineries produced more gasoline to meet expected summer driving demand. Photo of the Day: Concord Students Learn to Save

Cambridge Savings Bank (CSB) recently presented its CSBsmart Financial Education Program, “Teach Children to Save,” to the Willard School in Concord in an event that coincided with National Financial Literacy Month.

In a recent “Teach Children to Save” program at the Willard School in Concord, Cambridge Savings Bank President and CEO Wayne Patenaude read the book, “Just Saving My Money,” to 76 students from four classes. The event, which coincides with National Financial Literacy Month, encourages students to make saving money a habit at an early age, according to a company press release. This is the first year CSB engaged Willard School students in the program. “It was a pleasure and an honor to be a part of Teach Children to Save in my own community” said Patenaude. “CSB is dedicated to improving the communities we serve by educating even the youngest of students.” After reading to the students, Patenaude joined in a discussion with kindergarteners …

New Push For August Meals Tax Holiday

The state's Restaurant and Business Alliance said there was "no sign of opposition" at a hearing this week.

The Joint Committee on Revenue in the Massachusetts legislature held a hearing this week on the notion of a potential meals tax holiday for August and one supporting group is liking its chances. According to the state's Restaurant and Business Alliance (R.A.B.A), the hearing held Tuesday for the Meals Tax Holiday Bill saw "no sign of opposition" to the measure. Twelve legislators have signed on to the bill primarily sponsored by Rep. Keiko Orrall of Lakeville and Sen. Michael O. Moore of Millbury. If passed, the legislation would go into effect from Sunday, Aug. 11 through Thursday, Aug. 15. "We should offer a Meals Tax Holiday to benefit employees and small local business owners inside Massachusetts to help stimulate the economy," said …
