Promote a healthy food system

Across the country and here in Concord the need to build a healthy food system is in the news! Our Food and Farm Celebration and the release of the Concord Food Assessment report: Building Local Food Connections provide the framework...and a call to action!

 Join Garden/Life, Community Gardens, Concord Garden Club, Gaining Ground, CSA growers and neighborhood garden associations to encourage new gardeners by providing skill building and hands-on learning/doing opportunities...and build a healthy food system.

 Come join the conversation to determine our next steps...and enjoy some holiday refreshments!  Ideas include:

  • A Country Fair in early fall in West Concord
  • Ag Day afternoon: 4H type displays, garden tours, speakers, workshops and films!
  • Help the Seed Lending Library grow
  • Identify neighborhood garden leaders to host coffees with a speaker and a topic: how to start a garden; composting; lawn care etc.
  • Review and develop school garden options, healthy school lunch program and overall environment;
  • Picnic in the Park: Gardening outreach booth -- ask a gardener!
  • Offer a 'how to garden' speaker series through Adult Ed
