 ia in  the 1960s and recorded the Top 50 single "Dear Diary" for the New
   Orleans-based Conti label\, then a subsidiary of Atlantic Records. She
   also recorded several albums for the Rounder Records and the  Northern
 Blues labels. She has been nominated five times as Soul Female  Artist o
 f the year at the W.C. Handy Blues Music Awards.
