Vatican II Revisited: The Church
Holy Family Parish in Concord, Massachusetts, will be hosting Reverend Paul Ritt on Thursday, February 28 at the Parish Center, 55 Church Street in West Concord. Father Ritt is part of a year long program of special adult Faith Formation sessions exploring the documents and meaning of the Second Vatican Council as we celebrate that significant Council’s 50th anniversary. In this session, Father Ritt will address church from a pastoral perspective as presented in the Council’s pastoral constitution on the Church, Gaudium et Spes. This document treats the reality of the Church in the world and its relation to society and culture.
Paul Ritt has been the pastor of Saint John the Evangelist parish in North Chelmsford for more than ten years. A regional vicar in the Archdiocese, Paul was ordained in 1981 having graduated from Saint John’s Seminary in Brighton. Subsequent to ordination he did graduate studies at the Catholic University of America from which he earned both the S.T.L. degree [Licentiate] and S.T.D. [Doctorate] degrees. Returning to Boston, Father Ritt taught at Saint John’s seminary for twenty years in areas of Ecclesiology, Christology and systematic theology. This class on Jesus can be applied to the theological requirements for Basic Catechist Certification in the Archdiocese of Boston.
The presentation will be held at Parish Center, 55 Church Street in West Concordat 7:30 PM. A donation of $5 – 10 is deeply appreciated.
