Jean Peal Carlhian Retrospective Opens at Emerson Umbrella

We've got five things you need to see, do and know on Oct. 24 in Concord.

1. Gallery Opening"Design and Discourse: The Life and Work of Jean Paul Carlhian" opens Thursday at the Emerson Umbrella Center for the Arts. A retrospective gallery show, the exhibit opening Oct. 24 is a retrospective gallery show on the work of the Carlhian, a French-born architect and longtime Concord resident remembered as "the architect who took Harvard vertical." 2. Today in Public Meetings: According to the town website, public meetings posted for Oct. 24 include  the Board of Assessors at 7 p.m., the Concord Carlisle At Play -- Community Meeting at 7 p.m., the Finance Committee at 7:30 p.m. and the Hanscom Area Towns Committee (HATS) at 7:30 p.m.

5. Sunny and Colder: Should be mostly sunny today, but highs will hit only 49, according to the National Weather Service, which predicts a mostly clear evening with a low down around 30.
