Emerson Hospital Auxiliary to Kick Off Holiday Season with Annual Tree Lighting

Twenty-five years ago, the Emerson Hospital Auxiliary began the tradition of lighting the evergreen tree which graces the main entrance to Emerson Hospital.

This year, the Emerson Hospital Auxiliary will continue this tradition by holding its annual Tree of Lights ceremony on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 4:30 p.m. The public is invited to join Emerson staff and patients for a brief program in the hospital’s Cheney Conference Room, followed by the tree lighting in front of the White House.

A reception with light refreshments will follow in the Cheney Conference Room, where the Holy Family Bell Choir will provide entertainment. Parking will be validated.

This event is a way for the Emerson community to recognize special people in their lives by donating a light or a star for this very special tree. Lights may be donated in memory of a loved one, in honor of a special person or to celebrate a special event. All donations, which directly benefit Emerson Hospital, will be recognized in the Auxiliary’s Tree of Lights Tribute Book to be displayed in the hospital lobby throughout the holiday season.

“The Tree of Lights ceremony is a great example of how Emerson Hospital offers premium care and personal touch,” said Christine Schuster, president and CEO of Emerson Hospital. “The Tree of Lights offers a special way for our hospital community to come together during the holiday season and remember all the people we serve.”

Each light on the tree costs $10 and a star is $25. Checks payable to the Emerson Hospital Auxiliary may be mailed to Denise Haartz, P.O. Box 1596, Concord, MA 01742. The deadline is Dec. 15.
