Emerson Hospital Home Care is partnering with local boards of health and councils on aging to offer drop-in influenza and pneumonia immunizations for seniors in Maynard, Carlisle and Concord.
Maynard residents 65 and older may attend on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., at the Union Congregational Church, 80 Main St.

Carlisle residents 65 and older may attend on Friday, Oct. 18, 10 a.m. to noon, at Carlisle Town Hall, 66 Westford St.

Concord residents 65 and older may attend on Monday, Oct. 21, 1 to 3 p.m., at the Harvey Wheeler Community Center, 1276 Main St.
According to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, flu vaccination is recommended for most people each year, but especially for seniors and others with compromised immune systems and chronic health conditions such as heart disease, lung disease, diabetes and asthma. The vaccine in the flu shot is made from inactivated viruses that cannot cause the disease.
Scott Paparello, DO, director of infection control at Emerson, said influenza and pneumonia immunizations are critical to protecting public health.
“By being vaccinated,” he noted, “you’re protecting yourself, but also your family, friends and others around you from developing this disease and potentially life-threatening complications.”
Flu clinic participants are asked to bring their insurance cards. Registration is not required.
