Get Revolutionary this April vacation at the Concord Museum

The Shot Heard Round the World: April 19, 1775

From Dawn to Dead of Night:  Revolutionary War Encampment at the Concord Museum. Come watch on Friday, April 18, beginning at 5 as members of David Brown's company assemble on the lawn of the Museum and set-up camp on the eve of the anniversary of April 19, 1775.  Bring the kids to take in the sights and sounds of an extraordinary day in history.  The re-enactors will camp out overnight and march at dawn to the Old North Bridge for a Dawn Salute.  From 1 – 5 pm on Saturday, explore the encampment, talk with re-enactors, and watch musket demonstrations.  In the galleries participate in colonial crafts and games, try on period costumes, and attend a special gallery talk with Curator David Wood and militaria expert Joel Bohy from Skinner, Inc. at 2:00 p.m.  All activities free with Museum admission, Members free.

The exhibit’s focus is a single day in history – April 19, 1775 – a day widely regarded as the beginning of the Revolutionary War.    Visitors can view more than fifty objects that were eyewitnesses to the day’s events. Travel back in time to April 19, 1775 as you view powder horns, drums, clocks & swords.  Crafts and family themed treasure hunts all week from 11 - 3 daily from April 21 - April 25.

Additional programs and events at the Concord Museum throughout the entire exhibition including Patriot’s Day - Monday, April 21 from 11:00 – 3:00.  After the Patriots Day Parade, visitors can stop by to enjoy music from the Middlesex County 4H Fife & Drum Corps, take part in patriotic crafts and explore the new exhibition and even hear a gallery talk by curator David Wood at 2:00.
