Obituary - Mrs. Margaret M. Johnson

Margaret Marie (Prophet) Johnson age 86 of Concord passed away on Friday, January 17, 2014 at Emerson Hospital.  She was the wife of the late Howard W. Johnson who died in 1989.

Born in Milwaukee, WI on July 7, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Otto and Margaret (Morgan) Prophet.

She attended Waltham grade school and graduated from Wellesley High School. She also graduated from Burdett Business School.

Mrs. Johnson worked at Armour Leather Company as an office manager then for Raytheon Company as an administrative assistant.

After moving to Concord in 1960 she was active in the Trinitarian Congregational Church where she and her husband sang in the choir for many years.  She also worked in the church gift shop located in the Wright Tavern, in Concord Center where she was also co-chair for many years.  Margaret was also treasurer of the Acton Woman’s Club and Concord Woman’s Club then joined Edna Wagner as co-treasurer of the United Woman’s Club.  She was also well known for her homemade pumpkin cake sold to help raise money at the United Woman’s Club Scholarship Fair.

She is survived by her loving daughter Pam Nelson and husband Eric of Concord, her devoted and caring granddaughter Hallie Nelson and several nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her siblings Otto, Theodore, and John Prophet and Jean Schmelzer and Lillian Masse.

Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, January 23rd from 3:00-7:00 pm in the Concord Funeral Home, 74 Belknap St., Concord.  Her funeral service will be on Friday at 11:00 am in the Trinitarian Congregational Church, 51 Walden St., Concord. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Acton.
