Obituary- Frank W. Gordon

Frank W. Gordon,  81, of Concord, formerly of Lincoln, retired Lincoln Police Department and Lincoln Fire Department and retired bus driver, Concord Public Schools, died Friday Jan. 31, 2014 in Littleton. He was the beloved husband of 61 years of Rosemary (O'Connell) Gordon.

            Born in Waltham on January 23, 1933, he grew up in Lincoln, attended Lincoln schools and was a 1951 graduate of Concord High School. During his youth, he became the first altar boy to serve at St. Joseph's Parish in Lincoln. Many years later, he was honored to serve  as an altar server at the Parish's 50th anniversary Mass, celebrated by then Cardinal Bernard Law. 

            During the Korean Conflict, Mr. Gordon served as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force.

            He was employed by the Town of Lincoln as a Police officer and for the Town's Fire Department  from 1957 until 1969, when he became the owner and operator of Gordon's Gulf service station in Stoneham.  He retired in 2006 after many years as a bus driver for the Concord Public Schools, Doherty's Garage in Lincoln and C.A.S.E.

            Mr. Gordon was a member of the American Legion Post in Lincoln, and a former member of the Concord Lodge of Elks.

            He enjoyed his vacations to Florida, Bermuda and Las Vegas, his monthly trips to Foxwoods in Connecticut, and was an avid Red Sox and sports fan.

            In addition to his wife Rosemary, survivors include two sons, Frank W. Gordon and his wife Susan of Maynard, Lawrence M. Gordon and his wife Pauline of Concord, his daughter Deborah Gordon of Boxborough, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and his brother George M. Gordon of New Hampshire.

            Visiting hours will be held Tuesday February 4th from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM in St. Joseph's Church, Lincoln Road, Lincoln followed by a funeral Mass at the Church at 12:30 PM.

            Interment with military honors will follow in the family burial plot In Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord.

            Concord's town flag will fly at half-staff on Tuesday in recognition of Mr. Gordon's service to his country in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
