OBITUARY- Gail A. Emmanuel

Gail A. (Luther) Emmanuel, of Concord, died Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at her Concord home. She was the beloved wife of the late Hikmet N. Emmanuel, M.D. who died in September of 2013.

Born in Boston on June 10, 1937 she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Fitzgerald) Luther. She attended Boston and Weston public schools, graduated from Weston High School in 1955 and attended Fisher Jr. College in Boston where she earned her Associate Degree in Secretarial Science in 1957.

Mrs. Emmanuel was the Secretary to the Dean at the University of Massachusetts in Boston and for many years was a Medical Secretary at McLean Hospital in Belmont.

A Concord resident since 1977, she previously lived in Carlisle. She was a faithful communicant of Holy Family Parish in Concord, enjoyed many trips to Maine and lunch with friends.

Survivors include her daughters, Maryanne E. Giglia and her husband Sal of Bedford and Leila Shansab and her husband Yama of Oakton, VA, her grandsons, Aaron Shansab of Oakton, VA and Jacob Giglia of Bedford, and her sister, Elizabeth Remick of Wareham.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Campion Health Center, (Retirement Residence for Jesuits) 319 Concord Road, Weston, MA, 02493.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, February 17th from 4 to 7 PM at the Dee Funeral Home.

Funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 18th at 8:45 am from the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Michael Church, 90 Concord Road, Bedford, at 10 am.

Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Concord.
