OBITUARY- Joseph G. "Joey" Coleman

Joseph G. "Joey' Coleman, age 58, of Lexington and Concord, died Feb. 20. He was the beloved son of the late George A. and Agnes Z. (Walsh) Coleman. Brother of Robert Coleman and his wife Kathryn of Waltham, Julie Burns and her husband Stephen of Scituate, George Coleman and his wife Kathleen of Lincoln, Helen Cushman and her husband Kevin of Danvers and Philip Coleman and his wife Charla of Lexington. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Joey loved singing, dancing, laughing, performing, and was the life of every family party. Spendingtime at the beach, swimming, playing basketball and baseball were just some of the highlights he enjoyed with his family. He had an ability make new friends with everyone he met.

At his home in Lexington, compassionately staffed by the workers of the Cooperative for Human Services, Joey flourished. His friendships with his housemates were a central part of his life.

Joey enjoyed a full and active life: working, volunteering, taking part in bowling and swimming with Arlington Recreation and participating fully in the Special Olympics. He worked 20 years at Brandeis for the GWARC buildings and grounds crew. Joey and his housemates volunteered setting up and taking down the weekly Farmer’s Market in Lexington. A highlight of each week was participating with the Sing-A-Long Singer.

Joey brought laughter and love to everyone he met!
