Obituary: Joseph J. Yntas

Joseph John Yntas, 78 of Sun City West, AZ died January 22, 2014 after a long illness. He was born Lexington, Massachusetts August 15, 1935, the second child and first son of Martha (Kebit) Yntas and Joseph    Yntas. He is preceded in death by his youngest brother Paul. Joseph is survived by two sisters, Martha Provost of Stoneham, Massachusetts and Katherine Malcolm, Sun City West, Arizona. He was “Uncle Joe” and greatly loved to four nephews and 2 nieces and many great nephews and nieces.

He attended the Lexington schools and spent his time helping his mother and father with their small farm in Lexington and later in Carlisle. When his father retired the family built a house and moved to East Wareham, Ma. Joseph, also retired, loved fishing on the lake and attended many classes and programs at area senior centers. For a short period he owned a resale and antique shop in New Hampshire.                            Following his father’s death he and his mother moved to Sun City, AZ to avoid the harsh New England winters and high living costs.

In Arizona, Joseph became a devoted caregiver for his mother until her death in October 2012. Besides many bus tours and trips around the West they participated in the activities offered by the senior centers and others programs the Sun City area. He volunteered his time at several of the Senior Centers. Joe was particularly good at leatherwork and created many images of Native Americans in leather. He also worked with silver creating Native American style jewelry.

Joseph and his mother moved to different homes in Sun City eventually moving to their most recent residence in Sun City West. Joe continued to care for his mother ensuring her safety and welfare. Following her death in October 2012, Joe lived at the Grandview Care Center in Sun City West, a skilled nursing home, until his death on January 22, 2014.

Visiting hours will be held at the Dee Funeral Home, 27 Bedford Street, Concord Center on Monday February 3, 2014 from 10 to 11 am.

A funeral prayer service will be held at the Dee Funeral Home on Monday  February 3, 2014 at 11 am.   Burial will follow the service in the family plot St Bernard’s Cemetery, Concord, Massachusetts.
