OBITUARY- Joseph John Viscariello

Joseph John Viscariello, a lifelong resident of Concord, died Sunday February 16, 2014. He was the beloved husband of 64 years of Ruth “Tinker” Viscariello of Concord, who was the love of his life. He was the father of Deborah Viscariello and her partner Fred Armbruster of York Maine, Pamela Amer and her husband Robert of West Newbury, Scott Viscariello and his wife Karen of Concord, and Tom Viscariello and his wife Lynn of Maynard. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren – Gregory, Joanna, Matthew, Nathan, Max, Michael, Alyssa, Mikala, Joseph, Daniel, and Brian.

As a Sergeant in the US Army, Joe proudly served his country in the Pacific theater during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. He enjoyed golf in a few different ways – playing, watching it on TV, and attending championship events. Many people in the Concord area will remember him as the successful co-owner with his brother Frank of the West Concord Package Store in the ‘70s and ‘80s. Joe loved spending time with his family at his summer home on Lake Winnipesaukee. He was a master at working with his hands, building the Concord home from scratch and creating beautiful stone walls in Concord and “up at the lake”. When finally relaxing, he enjoyed nothing better than watching the sunset over the lake with a drink, a snack, and Tinker by his side. His legacy is one of hard work, independence, and the love of family.

Joe would hope that you could take a moment from your busy day to be thankful for everything good in the world.

A private family service was held in Concord and burial was at the family burial plot at St. Bernard’s Cemetery where officers of the United States Army presented military honors.

Concord's town flag was flown at half-staff on the day of Mr. Viscariello's service.
