OBITUARY- Mary M. Matheson

Mary M. (Howard) Matheson, 86, of Concord, formerly of Acton, died Thursday, June 26, 2014 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Alister I. Matheson who died in 2003.

Born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on April 19, 1928 she was the daughter of the late William R. Howard and Cecile W. (Pearson) Howard. She was raised in Canada and received a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Toronto. She returned to Occupational Therapy… after raising her family and retired from Emerson Hospital in Concord in 1985.

An avid gardener and talented artist, she especially enjoyed watercolor painting. She was a long time member of the First Parish Church in Concord, and was active in the Women's Parish Association. With her love of music, she played in the hand bell choir, sang in the church choir, and also sang in the Concord Chorus.

She is survived by her daughters Elizabeth A. Matheson of Concord, Susan M. Forman and her husband Jack of Marlborough and Wendy M. Carpenter and her husband Rusty of Acton, and her granddaughters Kaley and Kristen Carpenter of Acton. She was the sister of the late Barbara R. Wilcox of Canada.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 13th at 2 pm at the First Parish in Concord, 20 Lexington Rd., Concord Center. A reception will follow in the Church Hall.
