OBITUARY-Marianne Elizabeth(McClellan) Bond

Marianne Elizabeth (McClellan) Bond, age 77, a longtime resident of Lansing and Grand Ledge, Michigan died peacefully after a long illness, at home on August 18, 2013, in Concord, MA, surrounded by family. She was the beloved wife of the late H. James Bond, Jr.

Born on October 2, 1935, in Detroit, Michigan, Marianne was the daughter of Mabel Eliza (Lucas) and Joseph William McClellan. After traveling the U.S., her family eventually settled in Lansing where she attended Eastern High School and Michigan State University.

She married Jim in 1956 and, while raising their two daughters, Marianne began what would be a long and successful career in management at Michigan Bell Telephone.

An avid bridge player, animal lover, community volunteer, and sage advisor, Marianne also made a mean pulled pork-much to the delight of her family and friends.

She will be greatly missed.

Marianne is survived by her daughters, Jamie L. Bond of Concord, MA., and Julianne M. Bond of New York City, and her grandchildren, Madeleine Shapiro Neisler, Henry B. Shapiro, Thomas C. Shapiro, Harriet B. Smith, and Ava B. Smith. She is also survived by her brother, William Rice of Michigan and Florida, and many nieces and nephews.
