OBITUARY-STEPHEN PARKER GARDNER

Stephen P. Gardner, 59, of Belfast, Maine died Wednesday July 17, 2013. He was the dearly beloved husband of Dorothy Flavin Gardner. Born in Singapore on August 28, 1953, he was the son of the late Jean (Dowell) Diamond and stepson of the late Robert E. Diamond. His father, Robert Parker Gardner, was deceased in 1959.

Mr. Gardner attended high school in Reno, Nevada and continued on to the University of Nevada, Reno, before transferring to Princeton University. He went on to graduate from Princeton in 1975, majoring in geophysics.

Mr. Gardner taught science at the Fenn School in Concord, Massachusetts from 1975-1979. He was a natural teacher throughout his life and shared with those he taught his passion and wisdom.After teaching, Mr. Gardner attended Harvard Business School, graduating in 1981. He entered the computer industry in 1983, working for Burroughs Company in Detroit. His entrepreneurial spirit and thirst for innovation guided him through a multitude of ventures in the industry, including positions at Bull HN, Data General and Peregrine Systems.

He loved being with his family, traveling, golfing, attending baseball games with his sons and walking Remy, his beloved golden retriever.

In addition to his wife, Dorothy, his survivors include his loving sons, Brendan T. Gardner of Los Angeles, California, Christopher P. Gardner and his wife Katarzyna, and his granddaughter Gabriela S. Gardner of Belfast, Maine. He is also survived by his brother Richard Gardner and his wife Molly of Reno, Nevada.

Funeral services were held on July 25 at the Middlesex School Chapel in Concord, Massachusetts.
