Thankful for Kind Samaritans
There is so much bad news we read about daily, when something exceptionally good and caring happens, it really is news.
Last weekend in Maynard, my father was out for a walk without his cane near his home. He stumbled on a rock and fell. My father is 90 years old, so picking himself up and continuing wasn’t simple. But thank God a woman driving by happened to notice him and, she stopped to see now he was. By some amazing stroke of luck, she was a doctor! In yet another miraculous-seeming occurrence, another doctor was driving by and stopped to help.
Between the two of them, they helped him up and home, checked him over and encouraged him to go to the hospital. Fortunately it was only some scrapes and bruises.
The story gets even more amazing. The next day, the first doctor, came back to check on him. Not only that, but she brought him a pie from a local church!
I know my father feels especially blessed to have experienced such kindness on what could have been a very ugly fall. He caught the name of the first doctor, Dr. Hayes. He only remembers that the second doctor was from Concord. We don’t know how to contact either, but we would like to sincerely thank them both. We hope they will read this article and know how much we appreciate their exceptional acts of caring.
