5 Things: An Author Talk and a Summer Bash

A quick look at what you need to see, do and know on July 17 in Concord.

1. Author Joe McKendry to Speak at Concord Free Public Library: Joe  McKendry, author of Beneath the Streets of Boston: Building America’s First Subway, will talk about his book at the Concord Free Public  Library at 7 p.m. tonight in a program designed for young people ages 10 and older. 

2. Today in Public Meetings: According to the town website, public meetings posted for today include the Historic Districts Commission at 8 a.m., the CCHS Building Committee Design Subcommittee at 5 p.m., the CCHS Building Committee at 6 p.m., the Natural Resources Commission at 7 p.m. and the White Pond Advisory Commission at 7:30 p.m. 

3. Summer Bash at NARA Park: At 5:30 p.m. tonight at NARA Park in Acton, the Middlesex West Chamber of Commerce for outdoor networking, live music hosted by the Acton Jazz Cafe, beer & wine tasting hosted by Colonial Spirits and food featured by some of the area restaurants. All are welcome; pre-register at www.mwcoc.com for $15 or pay at the door $20.

5. Sunny and Warm: Should be mostly sunny today, with a high of 93, according to the National Weather Service, which predicts a cloudy evening with a low of 71.
