Concord's Comprehensive Sustainable Energy Committee invites you to see solar power in action at two homes in town this Saturday, June 15.

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Solar Open House will be held at the home of Brian and Pamela Foulds, 33 Riverdale Road. And from 2 to 5 p.m., you can visit the home of Maurice and Susan Ryan at 242 Elsinore St. The homeowners, and representatives from Astrum Solar, the installer partner for the Concord Solar Challenge, will be on hand to provide information and answer your questions.

Many thanks to the CCHS Environmental Field Studies Group for their recent mailing to high-potential homes in town. To date, more than 250 Concord homeowners, nonprofits and businesses have requested site evaluations and 20 homeowners have already signed up for systems.

There has never been a better time to go solar. Prices are way down, incentives are up and simple payback periods are about five years for a 20-year system. And solar owners can feel good that they are doing their part to support clean energy and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

If you have a south-facing roof with a good amount of sun, your site may be a good candidate for solar. The Solar Challenge runs until July 31. Sign up for a site evaluation at http://go.astrumsolar.com/concord and you're in.
