How to Get Rid of Your Christmas Tree in Concord

Disposing of a Christmas tree in Concord? Get ready to save the dates or call the Boy Scouts.

Once the holiday is past, it doesn't take long for the "O Christmas trees" go from "How lovely are thy branches?" to "How they heck to I get rid of you?"

Here in Concord, disposing of the spruce and firs is as easy as saving the date or calling the Boy Scouts.

According to the town website, Concord's compost site will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the first two Fridays and Saturdays in January for Christmas tree collection. That's Jan. 3, 4, 10 and 11, for those marking calendars.

The Saturday collections -- on Jan. 4 and Jan. 11 -- will accept both Christmas trees and polystyrene (Styrofoam).

And for those who can't make it to the compost site, the Holy Family Youth Ministry and Concord Boy Scouts will be collecting trees for disposal on Saturday, Jan. 11.

To reserve a Christmas tree pickup, email concordtreepickup@gmail.com. There's a suggested donation of $15 to $25 for the pickup, and reservations should be made by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8.
