“It gives guests to Concord the opportunity to look at the month of May and make plans to participate in all that Concord has to offer,” said Stephanie Stillman, executive director of Concord’s Chamber of Commerce, which manages the Concord Center Cultural District.

To promote “Celebrate Concord in May” events, the Concord Center Cultural District organizers pulled them all together in one brochure – which you can check out by clicking the PDF above.

Among the events are:

  • the ongoing Musketaquid Earth Month Art Exhibit at Emerson Umbrella
  • tomorrow’s “Tastes of Concord” food and wine event
  • the Minute Man Arc MARCH this weekend
  • the 15th annual “Paint the Town” auction on May 18
  • the Memorial Day parade on May 27

And some month-long events, too, like the “Big Art” exhibit at Emerson Umbrella and the Henry Thoreau and Climate Change exhibit at Concord Museum.

So why May, this month sandwiched between Patriots’ Day and summer vacation preparations?

“May was a month when many events were already scheduled to happen in Concord,” said Stillman, who noted the busy tourism season begins this month.  “It was also a great month to begin marketing to visitors and guests about the local arts and cultural events that could enhance their visit to Concord. … As we gathered event information from local organizations, we were surprised at the number of events happening in May and offered the opportunity for others to plan events and be included in the marketing of May.”
