About the Near-Drowning at Walden Pond

A young boy pulled from Walden Pond's water was reportedly breathing and responsive at the hospital Monday afternoon.

A child pulled from the water at Walden Pond Monday afternoon was responsive after being transported to Emerson Hospital, public safety officials said this afternoon.

Around 2:25 p.m. on Monday, July 29, emergency responders in Concord responses to a reported near drowning at Walden Pond, a state reservation known the site of Henry David Thoreau's famous cabin in the woods.

WCVB is citing the Department of Conservation and Recreation and reporting the boy, age 7, was pulled for the water and resuscitated.

Local public safety sources told Patch the boy was breathing and responsive after being transported to Emerson Hospital.
