Market Basket Workers Risk Jobs to Rally for Ousted CEO

Hundreds of workers descended on Market Basket's headquarters in Tewksbury Friday for a rally as the company's leaders threatened to replace them.

Hundreds have started to gather for a planned rally Friday morning at Market Basket's headquarters in Tewksbury.

The "Rally for Our Fight" at the company's headquarters is expected to include employees, vendors and customers, all joining in support of ousted CEO Arthur T. Demoulas. It's expected to start at 10 a.m.

Here's what we know so far this morning: hundreds have started to gather at Tewksbury headquarters for the rally. No trucks will be delivering to markets from headquarters today. Buses have been arriving at rally point with employees this morning. And the Andover warehouse is also not open Friday morning.

Employees at headquarters are also not expected to go to work today.

The action comes in reaction to a Thursday afternoon deadline that employees set for new co-CEOs Jim Gooch and Felicia Thornton, seeking to have Arthur T. Demoulas reinstated as CEO. It came and went and the co-CEOs said any workers that don't show up for work on Friday will be replaced.

Market Basket has about 70 locations in Massachusetts, including in Westford and Chelmsford.
