Upstairs Antiques Owner Says 'Thanks' for the Memories

With the New Year, Concord Center said goodbye to an old friend. 

Upstairs Antiques has closed after more than 20 years of business on Walden Street, according to business owner Joan Silverman, who said she looks forward to starting the next chapter of her life. 

"It has been a wonderful experience working with you and sharing our mutual interest in antiques, art and collectibles," Silverman wrote in an email thanking customers and friends who patronized the shop over the years.

"It’s been lots of fun and very gratifying," wrote Silverman, who became Upstairs Antiques' owner in 2005 after being a dealer in the shop for 12 years. "Thank you for your friendship and your business." 

By phone, Silverman said a new business will be moving in to Upstairs Antiques former home in the second floor space at 23 Walden St., but she didn't elaborate. 

Here's the full text of Silverman's email, which she described as "a goodbye and a thanks" to locals who frequented the store: 

Last month we officially closed our doors after 22 years of business on Walden Street. I want to thank our loyal customers for their patronage over the years. Because of you we have consistently won the local Readers Choice Award. Our dealers have worked hard to bring a wonderful mix of merchandise into the shop.  It has been a pleasure to be a shop owner and member of the spacial retail community of historic Concord center. 

I am looking forward to having the time to pursue other interests, creative opportunities and leisure activities in this next chapter of my life. It has been a wonderful experience working with you and sharing our mutual interest in antiques, art and collectibles. It’s been lots of fun and very gratifying.
