OBITUARY: G. Donald Wade

Guy Donald Wade, of Gardner, formerly of Concord, died Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Heywood Hospital in Gardner. He was the beloved husband for 56 years of the late Florence J. (Bove) Wade.

He was born to Guy Morrison Wade and Agnes (Morrill) Wade on March 20, 1918 in Somerville, MA. He was married to Florence (Bove) Wade who passed away in 2000. He was the loving father to Donald Wade and his wife Julia from Stamford, CT, David Wade and his wife Dorothy from Clinton, MA and Ann Park from Westhampton, MA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ben, Darcy, Andrew, Kelly and Michael Wade and his brother Charles Wade of Florida.

Known to everyone as Don, he was a Navy veteran of World War II and was sometimes referred to as the unofficial Mayor of West Concord. After a 35 year career as a salesman for Hood Industries, Don went to work for his good friend, Arthur Carr, who operated Richardson Drug Co., where he worked for another 30 years.

He enjoyed playing golf at The Maynard Country Club and walking the streets of West Concord. Two of Don’s other passions were The Concord Fire Dept., where he was a call volunteer fireman for 50 years and The Concord Lions Club where he was a Life Member.

Concord’s town flag will fly at half-staff on Saturday Oct. 19th in recognition of Mr. Wade’s service to his country during World War II.

Arrangements under the care of Dee Funeral Home of Concord, Susan M. Dee and Charles W. Dee, Jr., Funeral Directors.
